My somewhat quirky views as I gaze at the world around me!

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: BEARA PENINSULA, CO. CORK

Garnish Bay is on the Beara Peninsula in southwest Ireland.  Although the Beara Peninsula is not as well known as the nearby Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula, it is equally stunning.  Counties Cork and Kerry each claim part of it, with Garnish Point  being part of Cork.  The 15 minute drive down the rutted, one-lane, winding  track to this dead-end was absolutely worthwhile.  (Click on image to enlarge)

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: TULLAMORE, CO. OFFALY

This is The Grand Canal, which runs from the Shannon River to Dublin. Once a viable and busy commercial waterway, most of it is now overgrown and used only by kayakers and canoeists.  I was fascinated by the reflection of the houses in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland.  (Click  on image to enlarge)

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: BULLAUN STONES, CO. KERRY

This bullaun is called the “Rolls of Butter” and dates back to about 3500 BC.  It is the only multiple stone bullaun so far discovered, anywhere in the world.  It’s located near Bonane, County Kerry, Ireland.  Its purpose is a bit of a mystery but the placement of the wells mirror the lower part of the constellation of Orion as well as Sirius.  There is an amazing number of astronomical  features throughout the area, including stone circles, stone rows, standing stones etc.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: SUNSET IN CO. MEATH

I am convinced that the most beautiful sunsets in the world are the ones I see from my front garden in Moynalty, near Kells, County Meath!    This is my current “wallpaper”.  Remember, click on photo to enlarge.
