MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: JUPITER SUNSET

JUPITER, FL SUNSET

I love the fact that, although the sun sets in the west,  you very often get reflected sunset hues in the eastern sky.   This is especially noticeable  at the beach, in this case the beach at Jupiter Inlet, Florida, which is facing east across the Atlantic Ocean   Another thing I love about this photo is that if I move my laptop screen forward/backward I get totally different images.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: SOLSTICE SUNSET

WINTER SOLSTICE 2013 SUNSET

The rays of the rising sun, on the Winter Solstice, light the central chamber of the Newgrange Tumulus, part of the Bru na Boinne complex.  What is little known is that the rays of the setting sun that same day illuminate the inner chamber of the passage tomb at Dowth, also part of Bru na Boinne.  Although not open to the public, nor fully excavated, Dowth, as well as Newgrange and Knowth, are within 15 miles of my home in County Meath, Ireland, where this was taken on 21 December 2013.   Magic is all around!

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: CO. MEATH SUNSET

KINGSFORT RADIANCE

KINGSFORT RADIANCE

This was taken in late afternoon last October, following a heavy hail storm.  The skies had been so dark and stormy that I was surprised when I looked out the kitchen window and saw the sun break through.  Even though it was still raining, I ventured out onto the patio and captured this view of the lane leading to my home in Moynalty, County Meath, Ireland.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: FULL MOON OVER JUPITER

JUPITER, FL MOONRISE

JUPITER, FL MOONRISE

As well as sunsets, I have a real “thing” for the moon and also reflected images.   So this photo satisfies all three as it was taken just after sunset, with the rising full moon and the trees and golf course nicely reflected.  Taken November 2011, The Estuary at Jupiter Dunes, Jupiter, Florida.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: SUNSET IN CO. MEATH

I am convinced that the most beautiful sunsets in the world are the ones I see from my front garden in Moynalty, near Kells, County Meath!    This is my current “wallpaper”.  Remember, click on photo to enlarge.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: PANAMA SUNSET

I thought this sunset was just stunning!  Taken as our cruise ship exited the Pacific side of the Panama  Canal.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: SANIBEL ISLAND SUNSET

Sunsets on the Gulf Coast of Florida are lovely,  especially as seen through the seaoats at Sanibel Island.  As I’ve said before, expect many sunsets, many fewer sunrises!
