MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: CONNEMARA LAKE

CONNEMARA BOAT

Ireland is experiencing the longest heatwave since 1966 and a drought as well (IRELAND…very warm and dry??????….unheard of!),  so an afternoon in the middle of Kylemore Lake in Connemara, County Galway sounds very attractive.  With the looming mountains providing shade, the imposing presence of Kylemore Abbey providing a gorgeous backdrop and the prospect of a stroll around the lake and walled gardens….it all makes for a lovely fantasy.

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: GALWAY BAY

GALWAY BAY

So many of Ireland’s well-known towns and cities are located along the coast of the island.  Galway, on the Atlantic Ocean, has even had a very lovely song written about Galway Bay, pictured above.  It is a very lively place with great music, culture and craic (fun)!

MONDAY’S MAGICAL MOMENT: KILLARY HARBOUR, CO. GALWAY, SHEEP

This is Killary Harbour, the only fjord in Ireland, in County Galway.  The dramatic  fjord is 16km long and reaches depths of almost 150 feet and is a prime location for the growing of mussels.  The pretty village of Leenane  perches on its edge, the locale for the movie “The Field” starring Richard Harris.  As you can see, sheep also perch along its edges!  And they have the right of way!
